ISLAMABAD: The Senate Standing Committee on Law and Justice on Tuesday would be given a briefing by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) chairman regarding the overall performance of the bureau.
The committee meeting to be chaired by Senator Javed Abbasi will be briefed about the details of the number and details of the cases taken cognizance of, along with the number and details of the cases wherein the references were filed during the last three years as well as the statuses of the said references.
The committee will be provided the details of the pending cases along with their current status and the reasons for their pendency. The details of the reforms introduced for the improvement of the bureau and its way forward will also be provided.
The committee will consider the constitutional amendment bill for amending Article 51 moved by Senator Col (r) Syed Tahir Hussain Mashhadi.
“The Law and Justice Commission of Pakistan (Amendment) Bill 2017” introduced by the minister for law and justice last year, will also be considered by the committee.
Secretary Law and Justice will brief the committee on the status of the “Access to Justice Development Fund” along with the balance sheet and its utilisation.
