Girl’s body found floating in canal

An unidentified young girl, aged 25, was found dead in the canal near the bridge close to the Punjab University Halley College of Commerce in Muslim Town police precincts on Wednesday. Locals spotted the body floating in the canal and informed the police who shifted the body to the morgue. The police suggested that the girl was not murdered since her body was not bruised.
CLUBBED: An old woman, identified as Mariam, 85, was found dead in her flat (No 713) in Q block Liaqatabad
on Wednesday. Mariam’s relatives, who had come to her flat to see her, broke into the house and found Mariam lying dead on her bed. The police, who shifted the body to the morgue, suspected that some unidentified men clubbed her to death. The police have registered a case against unidentified men on the complaint of victim’s brother Nikaheel.
ON THE RAILWAY TRACKS: A 40-year-old man, identified as Muhammad Faryad, a resident of Sharifpur Kala Khatai, was run over by a train near Sitara Chowk, Imamia Colony on Wednesday. The train rushed him when he was attempting to cross the railway tracks.
FIRE BREAKS OUT, VALUABLES LOST: A car, furniture and valuables worth thousands of rupees reduced to ashes in three fires in the city on Wednesday. A fire out in Ramzan’s house owing to short-circuiting near Nawab Sahab Raiwind and burnt valuables worth Rs 0.2 million. In another incident, a fire broke out in Rizwan’s electronics shop owing to short-circuiting near Siad Pur Stop, Main Bazar Multan Road and burnt machinery worth Rs 0.1 million.
In another incident, a fire erupted in Farooq’s car (LOF-5009) owing to short-circuiting near Airport Chowk, Abdullah Grill Interchange. Fire fighters extinguished the fire. Six men steal trees worth Rs 1.5 million: The Chunian police have registered a case against six local men for allegedly stealing trees worth over Rs 1.5 million. Water and Power Development Authority Superintendent Engineer Malik Azeemullah registered a theft case against Tehsil Chunian residents Muhammad Ashiq, Mudassir, Tahir Anwar and others. He told the police that he had purchased an agricultural land in Chunian from where the accused men took away the trees. A resident of Model Town Lahore, the complainant told the police that the accused men had sold the stolen trees causing him a loss of Rs 1.5 million approximately.
