Pakistan hands over 147 fishermen to India

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Monday handed over one hundred and forty-seven Indian fishermen to Indian Border Security Force at Wagah border in Lahore.


The fishermen were released on humanitarian grounds from Malir jail Karachi on Sunday. Pakistan had announced last month to release two hundred and ninety-one Indian fishermen in two phases as a goodwill gesture.

Under the first phase, one hundred and forty-five fishermen were released on 29th of last month. These fishermen were held by Pakistan for fishing in its maritime borders.
