ISLAMABAD: Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarians (PPP-P) Secretary Information and member of National Assembly (MNA) Dr Nafisa Shah Sunday condemned the act of removing Benazir Bhutto’s picture from Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) logo.
In a statement issued here on Sunday, she said that this act of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) was malevolent and it proved that dictator Zia’s political scions still harboured bitter feelings against the late Benazir Bhutto.
She said that BISP was passed by the parliament to pay tribute to the services, sacrifices and struggles of Benazir Bhutto for the country.
Furthermore, the PPP leader said that Nawaz Sharif wanted to end the programme but due to the protest of international donor agencies, he could not go ahead with the move.
She said that strong protests would be held against this decision in the National Assembly and Senate.
The PPP leader also said that Nawaz Sharif was dictator Zia’s blue-eyed boy, therefore he chose to appoint former dictator Pervez Musharraf’s near and dear one as the chairperson of Benzair Income Support Programme.
The ones who were trying to erase Benzair Bhutto’s name would soon witness their names being removed from history, she concluded.
