Government approves Rs 2.135 billion for CDA projects

The government has approved Rs 2.135 billion for the Capital Development Authority’s (CDA) Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) projects in the budget for financial year 2011-2012. The government had approved 10 PSDP projects worth Rs 2.3 billion in the budget for 2010-2011. Out of the 16 approved projects for 2011-2012, five are new while 11 are ongoing projects, an official told Pakistan Today.
He said Rs 75.231 million out of the Rs 2135.76 million will be spent on strengthening the security system at Parliament House, while Rs 1000 million will be allocated for construction of 106 family suites for parliamentarians. Meanwhile, Rs 37 million will be used to construct residential and non-residential accommodation for police at Aiwan-e- Sadar, he said. In addition, Rs 31.746 million will be assigned for widening IJP road from GT road to Faizabad interchange. The government has allocated Rs 1.802 million for construction of National Assembly speaker’s residence, he said.
The official said Rs 300 million will be spent to construct the third and fourth lane of Kashmir Highway from Peshwar. Rehabilitation of secretariat building’s lifts will cost Rs 26.175 million, he said. Rs 18 million will be spent on installation of fire alarm and CCTV system in the parliament house, he informed. He said Rs 17.346 million was allocated to upgrade automatic vote costing system, installed in the senate hall.
The official said the new projects included provision and installation of security system of Rs 7.152 million in and around Faisal Mosque and a CCTV system of Rs 5 million in the senate building.
