  • Bhatti group confirms arrest of their two persons; fears fake encounter

LAHORE: Police on Friday arrested at least two persons allegedly involved in the murder of Imran Shafi, nephew of MNA Afzal Khokhar, and two others, Pakistan Today has reliably learnt.

Imran Shafi among three was killed by rivals during a wedding ceremony in Johar Town area of Lahore. The Punjab chief minister had taken notice of the triple murder and ordered to arrest the killers.

In First Information Report (FIR), the relatives pointed out fingers at the Bhatti group of Thokar Niaz Baig for opening fire at Imran Shafi and others during a wedding ceremony. Sources in police informed Pakistan Today that Punjab Police had arrested the two persons belong to the Bhatti group who were allegedly involved in the killing.

Talking to Pakistan Today, a family member of the Bhatti group confirmed that two of their family member had been arrested. They feared that the police may kill them in a fake encounter. However, Deputy Inspector General (Operations) Dr Haider Ashraf said that so far no arrest has been done.
