NAB chairman orders investigation against Balochistan minister

ISLAMABAD: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal on Thursday directed Balochistan NAB Director-General to start an investigation against Balochistan Minister for Forests Obaidullah Jan Babat for having assets beyond his sources.

The minister has properties of around Rs130 million in Dubai and Karachi, two Bungalows in Multan, one bungalow in Quetta and a petrol pump in DG Khan worth Rs75 million.

NAB chairman also directed investigation against former Sindh IG Ghulam Haider Jamali, Sohail Jamali and others for occupying forest department’s land of 2,500 acres.  He also directed for investigation of the accused for their involvement in agricultural land cultivation in Sindh’s Sujawal district with the assistance of revenue department illegally.

The investigation had also been ordered against Sindh Health Secretary Dr Fazlullah Balicho for misusing his powers for transfer and promotion of his favourites by setting aside rules and regulations. The secretary was also involved in awarding contracts of purchasing substandard medicines.

Javed Iqbal also directed Balochistan NAB DG to start investigation against Balochistan Additional IG Dr Mujeebur Rehman for having assets beyond his income and embezzlement of funds.
