LHC issues stay against Hajj Policy 2011

The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday issued a stay order against enforcement of Hajj and Umra Policy, 2011 and called replies from the provincial and federal governments until June 6.
Hearing various petitioners against the government Hajj Policy, LHC Chief Justice Ijaz Ahmad Chaudhry said that justice would be done to everyone.
The chief justice said that every facility should be provided to pilgrims.
A dozen of Hajj tour operators had filed petitions, seeking to stop the government from implementing the Hajj Policy for being discriminatory against them.
Justice Azmat Saeed said that Hajj quota could not be allotted on the basis of hypothesis.
Earlier, the chief justice had constituted a bench under him with Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed and Justice Umar Ata Bandial as its members to hear more than 60 petitions, challenging the Hajj Policy 2011 and alleged discriminatory allotment of the Hajj quota.
