PESHAWAR: All Pakistanis comprising Muhammad Ammad and Muhammad Hamza from Under-11, Asad Ullah and Ashab from Under-15, Muhammad Farhan Hashmi from Under-17, Mansoor Zaman and Muhammad Uzair Rashid from Under-19 categories took berth into the 3rd round of the ongoing British Junior Squash Championship being played at Birmingham, United Kingdom on Thursday.
Pakistan squash contingent is participating in various age categories and after recording victories in the first and second round of their respective categories through to the third round, a release of the Pakistan Squash Federation confirmed.
In the under-13 category, Usman Nadeem of Pakistan lost to Yujin Ikida from Japan in the first round by 5-11, 11-6, 7-11, 12-10 and 9-11. Mohammad Ammad, a promising hard hitter jumped to the third round after defeating Ethan Benstock from the USA by 11-3, 11-4 and 11-4 and another promising Mohammad Hamza Khan also reached 3rd round by beating Thomas Greengrass from England by 11-3, 11-3 and 11-5.
In the under-15 category, Junaid Khan lost to Ahmed Aly from Egypt in the 2nd round by 1-11, 1-11 and 0-11. Junaid Khan did not respond well and lost quite easily against Ahmed Aly from Egypt. Mohammad Ashab Irfan also moved to the third round by beating CJ Baldini from the USA by 8-11, 11-7, 11-6 and 11-8. Asad Ullah, the Pakistan No. 1 in the Under-15 category also reached to the third round by beating Kareem Farrag from Czech Republic by 13-11, 11-3 and 11-6.
In the under-17 category, Haris Qasim of Pakistan lost to Tushar Shahani from India in the 2nd round by 11-9, 12-10, 9-11, 8-11 and 8-11. Haris Qasim played and stretched to his India counterpart to five sets battle, Uzair Shaukat lost to Thomas Rosini from the USA in the 2nd round by 10-12, 5-11 and 5-11.
In the same category, Malik Abdul Moiz lost to Jared Carter from England in the second round by 8-11, 4-11 and 6-11 whereas Naveed Rehman also lost to Luis Enrigen from Mexico in the 2nd round by 11-5, 1-11, 12-14 and 13-15.
However, Mohammad Farhan Hashmi reached 3rd round by beating Man Wong from Hong Kong by 11-7, 11-4 and 11-6.
In the Under-19 category, Ali Sher Khan lost to Jordon Warne from England in the first round by 4-11, 5-11 and 9-11. Whereas, Zeeshan Zeb lost to Patrick Mcelroy from the USA in the 2nd round by 6-11, 12-14, 11-5 and 10-12.
However, Abdul Malik reached 3rd round by beating Jacob Ford from Australia by 6-11, 12-10, 11-4 and 11-1 and Mansoor Zaman moved to the third round after beating Curtis Malik from England by 11-9, 11-6, 7-11 and 11-8 whereas, Muhammad Uzair Rasheed also reached 3rd round by beating Scoti Giallander from Ireland by 9-11, 11-9, 11-6 and 11-8.
