ISLAMABAD: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government is spending 570 million for supplying solar power to tube wells to promote agriculture in the province.
A spokesman for the agriculture department said that more than 400 tube wells have recently been converted to use solar energy in different areas of the province.
These tube wells are irrigating 26,000 acres of land, reported Radio Pakistan.
The spokesman also said that 700 more tube wells will be converted to use solar energy next year. This will reduce the burden of electricity on the national grid.
