LAHORE: Punjab Minister for Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education Khawaja Salman Rafique has said that all the teachings, tehsil and district hospitals must ensure all arrangements of prevention and treatment of seasonal flu (H1, N1) across the province.
He said that all district health authorities and medical superintendents of teaching hospitals should submit seasonal flu monitoring report on a daily basis. He instructed that all doctors, nurses and hospital staff should adopt preventive measures during treatment of the patients so that the virus does not transfer to other people.
Khawaja Salman Rafique directed all the medical superintendents and CEOs to ensure the availability of Tamiflu in sufficient quantity for timely treatment of the patients.
He expressed these views in a meeting on monitoring of seasonal flu in all districts of Punjab.
Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education Secretary Najam Ahmed Shah, Primary and Secondary Healthcare Secretary Ali Jan Khan, Healthcare Director-General Dr Akhtar Rasheed, officers of the health department and medical superintendents of the hospitals attended the meeting through a video link. On the occasion, the minister said that all the hospitals should launch an awareness campaign for prevention of seasonal flu.
The officers of the health department briefed the minister on the overall situation of seasonal flu in Punjab. Primary and Secondary Healthcare Secretary Ali Jan Khan said that department has issued prevention guidelines for seasonal flu to all the district health authorities, and they are taking every possible step in this regard.
He said that the department issued the instructions to all the district health authorities and medical superintendents to submit disease surveillance report of seasonal flu on a daily basis.
