KARACHI:  Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) chief Mustafa Kamal on Thursday announced that Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) Member of Provincial Assembly (MPA) Sheeraz Ahmed has joined the PSP.

While addressing a press conference in the metropolis, he said, “I welcome Sheeraz bhai,” adding that the doors of PSP will never be shut on ‘brothers’. He further stated that it is the honesty of PSP that makes people like Sheeraz Ahmed join their party.

Sheeraz Waheed won the provincial assembly seat (PS-121) in the last general elections from Korangi. In an earlier address, he had said that his family were affiliated with the MQM for many years, but unfortunately, MQM-P did not live up to the expectations of the Urdu speaking community living in Karachi.

Waheed had also said that he had parted ways with MQM-P as soon as the MQM-P leader uttered his anti-Pakistan remarks but was waiting for an appropriate time to announce his decision.

Talking about Karachi’s situation, Mustafa Kamal said that the provincial government is fuelling ethnic disharmony in the metropolis.

He accused Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, of ignoring the fact that the population of Hyderabad was undercounted in the latest census by seven million, because ‘these people belong to a different community’ than his.

He further said that he wouldn’t want to fuel hatred on an ethnic basis, but “this is what the Sindh government is doing”.
