Nation asked to revive Iqbal’s philosophy

LAHORE: he revival of Iqbal’s thought is vital to find a path out of the current crisis opinioned the delegates at a colloquium organized under the aegis of Markaz-e-Majlis-e-Iqbal at the start of the Iqbal Day celebrations on Tuesday.
Participants highlighted the problems being faced by the nation and speculated on how Iqbal’s intellectual force could help tackle the multiple crisis’s. In celebrating Iqbal the delegates celebrated the creation of Pakistan. The function was conducted in the presence of a number of students, Anjuman-e-Taliba Islam activists, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) workers, women and the public in general.
The function was presided over by Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) President and human rights activist Asma Jehangir. The Chief Guest was Federal Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs Dr Babar Awan. The seminars key-notes were delivered by Justice (rtd) Nasira Javed Iqbal, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Secretary General Iqbal Zafar Jhagra, Allama Iqbal’s grandson Munib Iqbal, intellectual Auriya Maqbool Jan, columnist Ata ul Haque Qasmi,
journalist Sajjad Mir, Chief Editor daily Pakistan Mujeeb ur Rehman Shami, Sunni Ittehad Council Chairman Sahibzada Fazl-e-Karim, Hazrat Khawaja Qutubuddin Fareedi and Miskeen Faiz Ur Rehman. Speaking on the occasion, Babar Awan said we owe to Iqbal not only poetry that stirrs the soul but a philosophy that served as a clarion call for a dynamic life.
Awan said the nation was celebrating the birth anniversary of Allama Iqbal at a critical juncture of national history. Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Secretary General Iqbal Zafar Jhagra said that Allama Muhammad Iqbal was a great philosopher and poet whose poetry rekindled hope and awakening among the Muslims of the sub-continent.
Auriya Maqbool Jan highlighted the philosophy Iqbal towards favouring a democratic government. He said that Iqbal was the person who set a dimension for a suppressed nation. Sajjad Mir in the light of Allama Iqbal’s ideology expressed Islamic Philosophy of Democracy. He said Iqbal boldly conveyed the true spirit of Islamic ruling system that based on governance and principles of humanity.
Mir said Iqbal described the concept of a state in Islam with a spiritual democracy. Miskeen Faiz Ur Rehman said that if Pakistan wants renaissance then it must adopt Iqbal’s ideology in its true spirit. Justice (retd.) Nasira Javaid Iqbal always stressed on the role of youth in the national movement. She said if we wish to put the country on the path of development and progress and then we the old must vacate place for youth.
Asma Jahangir, Ata ul Haq Qasmi, Allama Iqbal’s grand son Munib Iqbal, Mujeeb Ur Rehman Shami, Sahibzada Fazl-e-Karim, Hazrat Khawaja Qutubuddin Fareedi and Miskeen Faiz Ur Rehman also spoke on the occasion.
