ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi inaugurated the 47-kilometre long Burhan-Shah Maqsood section of Hazara Motorway on Wednesday. During the ceremony, he said that political decisions should not be made in courts.

The interchange, which is an important section of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), has taken less than three years to be completed and is the second motorway project in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) after M-I.

The six-lane Hazara Motorway with a total length of 57 kilometres is being implemented in three packages. It is said that the Hazara motorway will benefit around six million people of Hattar Industrial Area, Haripur, Havelian, Abbottabad and northern areas.

Abbasi stated that the PML-N only believes in the verdict of polling booths.

“These are the projects that require vision and hard work and Nawaz Sharif has delivered on his promises,” said Abbasi while referring to the Burhan-Shah Maqsood section of the motorway.

“The government will complete its constitutional tenure and PML-N will return to power after July 15 elections,” added the premier.

The PM claimed that the number of roads built during the last four years of the PML-N’s government is more than the roads built in the last 60 years of the nation’s history.

This is the second motorway project in KP after the M-I and it will benefit six million people of the area.

The six-lane Hazara Motorway has a total length of 57 kilometres and it is being implemented in three packages. The motorway is expected to benefit six million people of Hattar Industrial Area, Haripur, Havelian, Abbottabad and northern areas.

Meanwhile, the prime minister attended the annual parents’ day of Cadet College Hassan Abdal (CCH).

Addressing the gathering, the PM lauded the contributions of the students and said the college was producing leaders of tomorrow.

He was appreciative of pursuing the policy of merit and said that the cadets were here because of their own efforts and not because of favouritism. He said that they were among the less than two per cent of those who had applied for admission and that they will pass out from the college to serve as leaders of tomorrow; in politics, military, industry and whatever profession they choose in Pakistan or abroad.

He lauded the principal’s efforts of national integration for inducting students from Balochistan, not on quota, but on merit.

Abbasi announced that the expansion programme of the cadet college would be fully funded by the federal government through the Public Sector Development Programme, as well as, two salaries for the faculty besides Rs 20 million contributions to the endowment fund for the faculty.

Earlier, he reviewed a parade by the students and witnessed a thrilling gymnastic display by young cadets, a tent-pegging event and horse riding skills after which he distributed prizes amongst the outstanding cadets.

Principal Major General (R) Najeeb Tariq presented the annual college report, achievements of the students and expansion plans.
