Drone strike kills two near Pak-Afghan border

PESHAWAR: At least two suspected militants, including a commander, were killed on Tuesday when a US drone targeted a house at Ghuaz Garhi, near to Mata Sangar of Kurram Agency.

Officials in the political administration at Parachinar, headquarter of Kurram Agency confirmed the US drone attack at Mata Sangar area, near the Pak-Afghan border. However, they didn’t provide further details in this respect.

Tribal sources said that the house targeted by US drone was in occupation of suspected militants headed by Commander Juma Khan. They said that Juma Khan, along with another accomplice, was killed in drone attack whereas several others were injured.

So far the exact identity of the killed persons could not be ascertained but tribal sources believe that suspected militants were associated with the Haqqani Network.

From the last several months, hideouts of suspect militants have been targeted by US drones. A large number of suspected militants including four from Bannu district have been killed in these attacks.
