KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P) said on Thursday that the ongoing anti-enroachment operation of the Karachi Development Authority (KDA)–in line with Supreme Court (SC) orders– is “politically motivated,” reports a local English daily.

MQM-P chief Farooq Sattar, expressing serious concerns over the operation, said that many people “have been deprived of their properties” due to the operation. The KDA, along with the area police and Rangers, has demolished a number of marriage halls and commercial plazas constructed illegally in the areas of Landhi and Korangi, during the anti-enroachment operation.

The KDA Director General Samiuddin Siddiqui has issued directions that all of the illegal constructions should be demolished without any discrimination and to follow the Supreme Court orders.

Meanwhile, the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) also took up the task and demolished a marriage hall raised illegally in Federal B Area. Boundary walls, stage, kitchen and other related constructions were razed during the operation.

Anti-enroachment teams are operating in several areas of the metropolis including in Federal B Area, North Nazimabad, Gulshan-i-Iqbal, PIB (Pir Ilahi Bux) Colony, Korangi, Liaquatabad, Nazimabad and Saddar.
