I would like to draw the attention of the Provincial Transport Department and the City District Government Karachi towards poor and pathetic public transport system of Karachi. Karachi being the biggest metropolitan city of Pakistan, is in dire need of an efficient transport system.As a girl student of Karachi University, I go through the ordeal of commuting through these buses and mini buses daily and like thousands of other students and other women who travel from these buses and mini buses, witness the rude behaviour of the conductors/drivers of these buses, who are simply oblivious of any traffic rules and play music loudly, and pay little respect to women and even elderly.
I request the traffic police to run a special drive against this violation and ensure that the ladies compartment and its gate remain reserved for women and girls. The traffic police also needs to challan all such vehicles which don’t stop on designated bus stops and force passengers to get down from moving vehicles inviting fatal accidents.
