order to ensure the provision of quality medicines and elimination of spurious and substandard drugs from the province, refresher courses would be arranged for enhancing drug inspectors’ efficiency. This was decided at a meeting of sub-committee of Quality Assurance of Drugs in the Health Department on Monday. The meeting decided that training regarding prosecution will also be imparted to drug inspectors with the cooperation of the law department so that they could prepare solid cases against illegal businesses.
The meeting decided to constitute a five-member committee for assessing drug inspectors’ performance, keeping in view the number of cases prepared and proved in courts. The sub-committee decided that cooperation of all stakeholders would be sought for eliminating spurious and substandard drugs and representatives of pharmaceutical companies, homeopathic, other drug manufacturing firms, pharmacists and chemist associations would be invited for consultation in the next meeting of the committee.
