ISLAMABAD: Constant rain and snowfall have resulted in road blockages and communications outage in the country’s northern areas, the media reported.
All districts of Gilgit, Ghizer, Hunza, Skardu and Baltistan divisions have experienced snowfall due to which land communication will be suspended for the next 5-6 months, causing distress to the local residents. Since last night, these areas have experienced at least 10 inches of snowfall and a considerable drop in temperature.
According to the MET office, the lowest temperature will be recorded in Malam Jabba with temperatures dropping to -6°C. The recorded temperature in Chitral, Parachinar and Kalam is -3°C.
In the next 24 hours, different areas of Balochistan are expected to receive rainfall.
Khuzdar is expected to receive 21 millimetres (mm) rain, Ormara 18 mm, Lasbela 17 mm, Jewani 7 mm, Gwadar 6 mm and Pasni 3 mm.
Balakot has also begun experiencing rainfall, due to which temperatures have dropped in the area.
