Sindh going to upgrade 4,450 schools as model schools

KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Education and Literacy Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar said that his department is going to upgrade about 4,450 as ‘model schools’ across the province.

This he said while meeting a delegation of Alif Ailaan on Tuesday.  Salman Naveed, Maliha Umer from Alif Ailaan and Dr Fouzia Khan and Mazhar Ali Siddiqui from Sindh Education Department were also present there.

The minister informed them that measures are being taken by the department to enhance education policies, such as stipends to female students, waiving of the admission, enrolment and examination fees for students of class IX to class XII.

Sindh Education Department is looking forward to organise seminars, classes/labs in rural areas to attract students, Jam Mehtab said. He added that 56 English medium/ comprehensive schools are soon being initiated which will enhance educational standard.

He further said that it will be ensured that every child in the province goes to school, and gets the quality education.
