LAHORE: Zaid Alam, a batsman who is the son of a modest and simple tea seller, has made it to Pakistan’s Under-19 team and will be playing in the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup.

His father runs a small tea stall to make ends meet. Zaid and his brother have grown up helping their father in running the humble business. His father, Alam Khan, while speaking to the media expressed his joy and said: “We never had any money nor did we ever think along these lines; Allah helped my son move forward in his life.”

“His achievement is a result of his hard work,” said Alam when asked about Zaid’s work ethic and determination and proudly added that his son’s best quality is the respect he has for his teachers and mentors.

Zaid’s journey has been one with difficulties at every corner. He was often bogged down with severe financial issues; however, he did not let those troubles come in the way of pursuing his passion. He started by playing cricket at club level and gradually came into the spotlight.

“I will give my 110 per cent to the team and ensure that Pakistan becomes victorious,” he told the media, adding that he hopes to make his mark in the world of cricket and become a part of Pakistan’s cricket team.
