LAHORE: Lahore police has decided to introduce another force with the sole purpose of collecting forensic evidence, reported a private media outlet.

According to the report, the force will consist of more than 250 officers from the investigation wing who will be posted to their respective police stations. The forensic evidence collection force will hold the responsibility of arriving at the crime scene within a prescribed time period and collecting evidence before it gets misplaced or contaminated.

Officers from within the police force have hailed this as a welcome step since in many instances, the forensic evidence collection is time-bound and therefore the need for a designated officer to collect the evidence is quite important.
