–Marriyum criticises judiciary for having dual standards

ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for Information, Broadcasting, National History and Literary Heritage Marriyum Aurangzeb on Monday congratulated the organisers for holding a photo exhibition, Colours of Korea, that represented the Korean culture.

The exhibition was organised at the Rawalpindi Arts Council.
The minister, along with the Korean Charge d’ Affairs and delegation, observed that she had for the first time seen the biggest fish market established in Korea through this exhibition.

She said that the pictures displayed in the exhibition showcased the Korean culture, adding that the students of schools and colleges must be made to visit the exhibition. The minister said that Korean culture programmes had also been held during 2017 in the country.

After the inauguration, the information minister posed a question that why the yardstick applied in [Nawaz’s] Iqama case, but not on [Imran’s] Niazi Services Limited?
“When double standards were applied in law it tended to invoke critical voices and that was why the people, lawyers, constitutional experts and analysts criticised the court’s decision to exonerate PTI chief Imran Khan,” Marriyum added.

Responding to a question, she said that whatever [PML-N’s anti-judiciary] statements given were a sequel to the voices raised by the people and the civil society.

Marriyum reiterated that the July 28 decision [Nawaz’s disqualification] had triggered instability in the country, arguing that raising a voice in self-defence did not tantamount to confrontation with state institutions.

Commenting on PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif’s “anti-judiciary drive”, the minister said that Nawaz Sharif had taken upon himself the responsibility to restore the sanctity of vote and it looked a real possibility in the near future.
She said that looking at the things in the context of history it transpired that whenever pressure was exerted on the institutions the law of necessity was also invented.
Lauding Nawaz’s regime for welfare projects, the info minister said, “When Nawaz Sharif assumed power the country was steeped in darkness, but the country today is producing surplus power and a mega-economic project like CPEC has been initiated.”

Commenting on a recent anti-PML-N alliance, the minister observed that it was inconsequential whether Zardari went to Qadri or Imran stood with Qadri, the people knew well which party was serving them. She claimed that Zardari and Imran had done nothing for their respective provinces and those who failed to perform could only indulge in conspiracies.
