ISLAMABAD: The Senate on Monday observed one-minute silence to express solidarity with the victims of a terror attack at a church in Quetta.
Senate Chairman Mian Raza Rabbani said that the house condemned this incident and such cowardly acts could not deter the resolve of the nation to eradicate terrorism.
“It is our responsibility to ensure the protection of minorities,” he added.
After observing the one-minute silence, the Senate chairman asked Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarians (PPPP) Senator Sehar Kamran to speak on her resolution regarding the Army Public School tragedy in 2014.
Senator Sehar Karman stressed the importance of stopping financial aid to terrorists in order to root out this menace.
Speaking on the Balochistan church attack, Deputy Chairman Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri said that Balochistan has been facing terrorism activities for a long time and that the federal government should help the provincial government in this regard.
He stated that those formulating National Action Plan should focus on Balochistan, besides ensuring the safety of security personnel, policemen, labourers and others.
“Practical steps should be taken for handling the worsening security situation of Balochistan,” he concluded.
