2 policemen killed over sectarian rift in Quetta

Two police constables were gunned down in a sectarian rift, while three including a police officer got injured in an attack here on Sunday. In another incident, militants blew up a local gas pipeline and a water supply line in Dera Bugti.
According to officials, police constables were returning to the Brewery police station on a motorcycle when attackers opened fire on them. Both constables identified as Ishaq and Musa received fatal injuries and died on the spot. Police inspector Mohammad Raza, civilian Yazdan Khan and his wife Saba also received bullets and were injured.
When contacted, DSP Jameel Kakar said it seemed sectarian killings had triggered the unrest as both victims belonged to Hazara Shia community. In addition, the injured were also from the Shia community. He said the attackers had targeted both police constables.
Meanwhile, Baloch militants blew up a water supply line and a local gas pipeline in Dera Bugti. Both lines were damaged and supply was restored after the company’s technical staff conducted repair work.
