LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif will leave London for Pakistan on Monday, a day after ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif announced a campaign against what he called the “double standards” of the judiciary.

According to reports, the chief minister underwent medical treatment whilst in the United Kingdom and was declared fit and healthy by his doctors.

Earlier on Sunday, the deposed premier and his daughter Maryam Nawaz touched down in Lahore. The two had left for London earlier this month to meet the ailing former first lady Kulsoom Nawaz.

Nawaz Sharif had on Saturday said the “double standards of justice were not acceptable, and that they will do everything to uphold the supremacy of the law and the Constitution.”

According to him, while he was disqualified for not receiving a salary from his son, Khan’s hundreds of thousands of pounds had not been viewed as an ‘asset’ [by the top court].

Last week, the top court, while announcing two verdicts on constitutional petitions filed by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Hanif Abbasi, gave a clean chit to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan but disqualified general secretary Jahangir Tareen.

On July 28, the top court had disqualified Nawaz for failing to declare an unclaimed salary from a Dubai-based company of his son, as an asset when filing his nomination papers in 2013.
