of crime through use of latest technology is the need of the hour, Lahore Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Ahmed Raza Tahir said on Sunday. The CCPO directed divisional superintendents of police (SP) to ensure installation of recording equipment along with CCTV cameras at banks, financial institutions and other important business centres. Tahir said that it is a legal responsibility of any bank manager to ensure that the burglar alarm system is installed at the bank and in a running condition and properly and regularly checked. Every bank manager has to ensure closure of the main gate at the time of stopping public transactions and the gate should be open for only authorised people.
The CCPO directed Lahore Police to ensure that security guards deputed at banks are properly trained and necessarily equipped to meet any emergency situation. He said that any bank, which flouts laws, would be strictly proceeded against. Tahir said that CCTV cameras go a long way in helping arresting criminals after identification. The CCPO warned that he would continue to make surprise visits at various points to ensure proper security arrangements in different parts of the city, whereas, strict departmental action would be taken against policemen who will display inefficiency or a lack of sense of duty.
