LAHORE: Punjab Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education (SHME) Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique on Wednesday inaugurated an extension of the newly constructed gynaecology block in Sir Ganga Ram Hospital (SGRH), Lahore.
The new block consists of 40-bed gynaecology wards, postnatal ward, CTG/ultrasound room, induction room, two labour rooms, nursery, minor procedures theatre, sterilisation room and offices of doctors and nurses.
Speaking on the occasion, Khawaja Salman Rafique appreciated the new administration of the hospital, especially the Vice-Chancellor, for completing the extension of the newly constructed gynaecology block and making it functional.
Fatima Jinnah Medical University Vice-Chancellor Prof Khalid Masood Gondal briefed the secretary regarding the new facility. He said that the new facility would distribute the workload of the gynaecology department and would facilitate a larger number of women by the provision of new labour rooms, nursery and minor procedures theatre. He further said that the gynaecology block has been constructed on 6,500 square feet of land at a cost of Rs42.628 million and its construction is a part of the plan to upgrade Sir Ganga Ram Hospital.
Meanwhile, Khawaja Salman Rafique also chaired a meeting of the syndicate of Fatima Jinnah Medical University. Prof Khalid Masood Gondal, Dr Amjad Saqib, members of the syndicate and medical superintendents of Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, Government Shahdara Teaching Hospital and Government Mozang Hospital attended the meeting. The meeting reviewed and ratified different administrative and financial matters.
