Suspect killed in police ‘encounter’ in Karachi

KARACHI: An alleged street criminal was killed and two wounded in separate incidents in Karachi in the early hours of Wednesday, according to reports.

Police and Rangers killed the ‘suspect’—identified as one Nasir alias Kala— in an alleged encounter in Korangi area of the city. His accomplice, however, managed to get away.

According to reports, the suspects opened fire on personnel and try to escape, however, the police chased them and killed one of the ‘suspects’ in an exchange of fire.

It was further revelead that the deceased had allegedly been involved in street crimes in Gulshan Iqbal and Gulistan-e-Jauhar areas.

In separate incidents, firing by robbers left a policeman and a security guard injured in Gulistan-e-Jauhar and Buffer Zone areas respectively.

A mugger— named Ishaq— was also nabbed by police from Pakistan Bazar area.
