LAHORE: The Flying Squad of traffic police department is facing certain issues with wardens being assigned ‘unauthorised’ duties and being victimised by bosses, according to a report by a private media outlet.

Traffic wardens of this squad are reportedly being forced to perform duties at private functions of influential personalities.

The Flying Squad had been raised six months ago on reports of the traffic police department’s intelligence wing. The objective of this squad was to assist VIP (Very Important Personality) movements in the provincial capital and ease traffic burden on the city’s roads for commuters.

According to reports, there is no shift system in the squad and traffic wardens worked from 8 am to 11 pm daily without a break.

Many of the wardens are stationed at private wedding and birthday functions of influential people which adds to the misery of the officials.

Traffic Superintendent of Police Asif Siddique stated that the department would address legitimate demands of the Flying Squad wardens once it received any complaints.
