Int’l journalists’ delegation visits PITB

LAHORE: A visiting foreign journalists’ delegation led by German DPV President Christian Zarm and Head International Relationship Division Shamsul Haq, visited the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) here on Monday.

The delegation, accompanied by journalists from Germany, Iran, Afghanistan, India and other countries who recently participated in the international journalists’ conference, was briefed about the software development and automation of various services for the citizens across the province which has simplified the procedures and extended services under one roof.

At present, over 25 services including birth, death, marriage, divorce, domicile certificates, business registration, driving license etc. were being provided to the citizens within stipulated time with status tracking facility, the delegation was briefed.

It was informed that the digital inclusion in law and order projects have shown a sharp decline in terrorist activities and has improved the law and order situation as most of the functions of Punjab Police have been digitalized. Furthermore, the delegation was informed that data-driven crime mapping had proved significantly helpful in prompt decision making, while safe city authority was working closely with Punjab police and all the respective systems were now interacting with each other.

They were also apprised regarding health, education, freelancing, e-stamping and other digital Punjab initiatives and technological innovations undertaken for digitally inclusive Pakistan. The members of the delegation took a keen interest in the technological solutions to various problems.
