LAHORE: A joint venture was signed between Cosmos Health Services (CHS) and Thailand’s World Medical Centre Hospital (WMCH) to set up 100 acute hospitals and urgent care clinics all over the country and a formal ceremony in this regard was held here on Sunday.
The document of the joint venture, which aims to provide international standard medical services, was mutually signed by the CHS Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Ashba Kamran and WMCH Chairman Dr Chalerm Harnphanich in a ceremony held at CHS where a large number of dignitaries both from Thailand and Pakistan were also present.
Speaking on the occasion, CHS CEO said that this first-ever collaboration between a Pakistani and a foreign medical consortium will focus on introducing the latest technologies in the fields of planned surgeries, palliative care and in other areas of advanced medical procedures. She added that the vision of CHS is to become the standard bearer of ‘premium healthcare’ throughout Pakistan where patients would be provided state of the art solutions for traumatic injuries in an ICU-based environment.
“The idea to establish such a healthcare facility came to my mind four years ago when I lost my mother,” she said and added, “Then I made a promise with my mother that one day I would build a standard healthcare facility, which today stood fulfilled.” She stated that it would be her top priority to at least build one such facility in every city of the country where it will be ensured that foreign nursing staff is hired for better care of patients.
Punjab Board of Investment and Trade (PBIT) CEO Jahanzeb Burana said on the occasion that CHS is an impressive business model where patients would be provided effective care through this hospital which has the state of the art set-up. “The PBIT is proactively ready to expand this joint venture throughout the country and we will also provide all the support required to both the parties of this venture,” he added.
WMCH Marketing Director Kantaporn Harnphanich also spoke on the occasion, highlighting different features of this joint venture to which his company is also one of the signatories. He said that this venture may become a potential resource for the medical tourism between the two countries as Thailand is already considered as the hub of medical tourism where millions of people come every year to get medical treatment.
He further stated that their company owns and operates 12 private hospitals and one polyclinic under four different brand names in Thailand.
CHS is the state-of-the-art healthcare facility centre having 12 rooms and an emergency with three-beds to provide best healthcare facilities to the patients. A large number of notables including PBIT Chief Operating Officer Haroon Shaukat, Punjab Institute of Cardiology CEO Professor Dr Nadeem Hayat Mallick, CHS Directors Qudsia Mumtaz, Amina Hasnain and many other Thai dignitaries were also present on the occasion.
