Pervez Musharraf and his cronies provided a safe haven to Osama Bin Laden, said General (r) Ziaud Deen Butt at a Youm-e-Takbeer function organised by Pakistan Awami Party and Muhsin-e-Pakistan Lover’s Foundation at the Punjabi Complex on Saturday. Nuclear Scientist Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan, renowned politician Qayyum Nizami, Pakistan Today Editor Arif Nizami, Dr Mujahid Mansoori and Saad-ullah Shah spoke on the occasion. Butt said that former Intelligence Bureau chief Ejaz Shah harboured Osama, while the involvement of former ISI chief Mehmood could not be ruled out as well. Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan, in a telephonic speech, urged the importance of new leadership for the solution of problems.
Paying homage to Dr Khan, Qayyum Nizami said that both Zulifaqar Ali Bhutto and Dr Khan were the pioneers of Pakistan’s nuclear program, but unfortunately both were maltreated. The Pakistan Today editor appreciated Dr Khan’s contribution to Pakistan’s nuclear programme. He said that after the Abottabad operation, concerns about Pakistan’s nuclear assets had deepened. Other speakers also paid homage to Dr Khan.
