RAWALPINDI: Fatima Jinnah Women University’s (FJWU) Office of Research Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) on Saturday organised its third women entrepreneurship fair.
The fair was arranged to bring together aspiring and current women business owners and entrepreneurs from diverse ages, educational levels and industries for networking and benchmarking.
At the same time, it assisted to instil an entrepreneurial spirit and underscore the worth of this spirit in students, community organisations and businesses.
Former member of national assembly (MNA) Shireen Arshad Khan, who was also the recipient of the “best women entrepreneur award”, was the chief guest at the ceremony.
More than 65 stalls were displayed by the exhibitors including current students, alumni and established businesswomen from the twin cities. A large number of visitors including students, women and children attended this event.
A display of products and services, including pottery, paintings, sports, photographs, colour carnival, clothing, bedding, jewellery, handicrafts and food items were displayed.
Motivational sessions were also part of the fair to motivate the students and young businesswomen of the twin cities to establish their business.
During the event, Izzah Ahmed of Juicy Gossip, Maha Noor of Maha Design Photography, Anum Zulifqar of Connected Pakistan and other dignitaries delivered lectures on women entrepreneurship.
FJWU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Samina Amin Qadir said on the occasion that the students of FJWU would become job providers instead of job seekers in the coming years.
Addressing the audience, Shireen Arshad Khan expressed her admiration for women entrepreneurs and saluted their heroism, saying that no nation could really progress until its woman workforce stood side-by-side with its male counterpart.
