Just when you thought Shah Rukh Khan’s position is getting weaker than his rivals in the movie market, IMDb has declared him the number one star of the Indian cinema in 2017. With two releases, Raees and Jab Harry Met Sejal, King Khan has ruled the IMDb (Internet Movie Data Base) STAR Metre week proving that he is a force not to be reckoned with.
IMDb based its list of top 10 stars of 2017 in Hindi film industry on their StarMeter stats and page views and took into consideration which actor stayed at the top and for how long.
Shah Rukh Khan was closely followed by Aamir Khan whose film Dangal broke records in China. His latest release Secret Superstar was also a stellar hit and an audience favourite.
Salman Khan was ranked on number three. His Eid release Tubelight failed miserably at the box office and now all eyes are on his upcoming release, Tiger Zinda Hai which is scheduled to release on Christmas.
Number four on the list was Tamannaah Bhatia followed by Irrfan Khan who ranked number five. Irrfan starred in two successful films this year namely Hindi Medium, which also featured Pakistani actress Saba Qamar, and Qarib Qarib Single.
Anushka Sharma secured the seventh spot and was followed by Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif at number eight and nine.
However, what was surprising was the absence of Akshay Kumar’s name from the list. The actor was in the public eye throughout the year with his films Jolly LLB 2, Nam Shabana and Toilet Ek Prem Katha doing well at the box office.
On the Hollywood front, Gal Gadot led IMDb’s List of Top Stars of 2017. Following her breakout success from box-office sensation “Wonder Woman,” it’s no surprise Gal Gadot tops IMDb’s top stars of 2017 list.
Among those joining Gadot are Alexandra Daddario, Tom Hardy, and Pom Klementieff.
While Wonder Woman herself led this year’s list, Gadot was in good company with seven out of the top 10 stars being female, including Emilia Clarke, Sofia Boutella, Sofia Boutella and Katherine Langford.
