  • Decides to launch Khatam-e-Nabuwwat movement from Sanaullah’s Faisalabad constituency

LAHORE: Sargodha-based cleric Pir Hameeduddin Sialvi is adamant to get Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah’s resignation and is all set to launch a Khatam-e-Nabuwwat movement for this purpose from Sanaullah’s electoral constituency (PP-70) in Faisalabad on Sunday.

Though countrywide Khatam-e-Nabuwwat sit-ins and protests ended after Tehreek-e-Labbaik Ya Rasool Allah (TLYRA) chief Khadim Hussain Rizvi and Tehreek-e-Siraatul Mustaqeem (TSM) leader Dr Ashraf Asif Jalali held successful negotiations with the government, yet the problem remains unsolved for Rana Sanaullah.

Rana Sana had allegedly made some ‘controversial’ comments regarding the Ahmadi community in a private TV programme.

Asif Ashraf Jalali ended his sit-in in Punjab on the condition that Rana Sanaullah will appear before Pir Hameeduddin Sialvi and clarify his position on the remarks allegedly in favour of Ahmadis. However, if Pir Sialvi was not satisfied with Rana’s clarification, he will have to tender resignation until Dec 3.

It has been learnt that Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif contacted Pir Sialvi and got more time from him for the law minister’s resignation. Pir Sialvi refused to accept the apology of Rana Sanaullah and declined to give more time to Shehbaz Sharif.

He will thus launch his movement as planned on Dec 10.

Pir Sialvi has claimed that he has resignations of 15 federal and provincial lawmakers of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) in his pocket, who are ready to resign to show their immense love and respect for the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) and to reaffirm their unflinching faith in the finality of Prophethood.

The MPAs and MNAs have submitted resignations to Pir Sialvi to dispel the impression that they had mala fide intentions in the Khatam-e-Nabuwwat controversy and also because Pir Sialvi has a large religious vote bank in their constituencies and has a considerable political influence.

PML-N MPA and nephew of Pir Sialvi, Nizamuddin Sialvi, said that the finality of Prophethood is a part of his faith and his resignation to Pir Sialvi was the show of love for the Holy Prophet (PBUH).  “Resignation from Punjab assembly is nothing. I am ready to sacrifice everything for my Prophet (PBUH),” he said and added that his resignation was the first drop of rain and many other legislators will follow suit because they will not compromise on Khatam-e-Nabuwwat.

On the other hand, Rana Sanaullah has said that he had never said anything in favour of Ahmadis and apologised for his ‘controversial’ statement. He rejected Pir Sialvi’s impression that he had prepared the draft bill of the Elections Act, 2017.

“I have nothing to do with the bill. Pir Sialvi does not even know where the election bill was presented, i.e. whether it was the National Assembly or provincial assembly.  Sialvi should know that the bill was presented in the National Assembly and I am part of the Punjab Assembly and had no role in the bill. Whatever is taught to him, he says all that about me without confirmation,” Sanaullah clarified.

Pir Sialvi is a former senator from PML-N and is the caretaker of Sial Sharif shrine in Sargodha. He had demanded Rana Sanaullah’s resignation even before the launch of TLYRA sit-ins which paralysed the country.

Pir Sialvi has parted ways with the PML-N and declared that the present regime was anti-Islamic.

Punjab Auqaf and Religious Affairs Minister Zaeem Hussain Qadri held meetings with Pir Sialvi but failed to convince him about Sanaullah’s clarification and apology.
