National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) N-Central on Saturday launched a three-week special campaign to brief and educate motorists about the hazards of using cellular phones while driving and check lane violations, speeding and use of pressure horns by public service vehicles (PSV). Holding a meeting with senior NHMP officials, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Fateh Sher Joyia said that use of cellular phone while driving distracts concentration of drivers and could result in serious accidents.
He instructed officers to take remedial measures to curb this unhealthy trend. All officers of N-5 Central have been strictly instructed to perform their duties vigilantly and especially check the above-mentioned violations, as it involves many precious lives. The DIG said that as the use of pressure horns by PSVs is a permanent source of nuisance and causes inconvenience to other motorists, necessary action might be taken against drivers using pressure horns. Joyia asked officers to make all-out efforts to make these campaigns successful.
