NAUNDERO: The building of the Government Primary School in Faiz Muhammad Ghangro village, located on the bordering area of Larkana district with Shikarpur, was declared dangerous by the provincial buildings department 15 years ago but no action has been taken.
This information has exposed the tall claims of the government about imposing education emergency in Sindh.
As many as 150 male and female students have been shifted to nearby Otaq, the condition of which is also shabby.
The village school is located in Garhi Yasin Taluka of Shikarpur district which is the constituency of Sindh Assembly Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani. The villagers and school headmaster told reporters here on Thursday that they had written several times to the Sub Divisional Education Officer (SDEO) Garhi Yasin and District Education Officer (DEO) of Shikarpur but all in vain.
Head Master Rafique Kumbhar said: “I was posted here 15 years ago where I am still working along with five other teachers.” He said he not only made the school functional but also introduced more teachers due to which the admission of girls and boys had crossed 150 number. He said he sent letters to higher education authorities and complained to visiting judges but nothing had yet come.
The headmaster said that both outdated buildings were without boundary walls, drinking water and washroom facilities. He said that the students study while sitting on the floor even in the prevalent cold weather, adding that their lives were in constant danger.
He also said that the, “SMC fund of the school was also stopped three years ago.”
Villagers of Sikander Ghangro, Hazar Khan, Azizullah and others said that whenever they went to elected representatives, they were replied that allocated budget had been consumed somewhere else and their school would be constructed next year.
Shikarpur Education Works Engineer Salim Shaikh said when contacted that he had been posted here six months back and since then had not received any application by the villagers.
