- PTI chairman claims Nawaz only represents ‘ideology of corruption’
BAHAWALNAGAR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Sunday requested National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal to investigate Interior Affairs Minister Ahsan Iqbal, who according to the PTI chief holds an ‘iqama’ issued by an organisation in Saudi Arabia.
Imran also lashed out at Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif in a rally held at the Railways Ground in the Chishtian tehsil of Bahawalnagar district on Sunday.
“He [Nawaz] only represents one ideology, which is corruption,” he said. “Nawaz is ready to destroy this country’s courts and military to save the Rs300 billion that he looted from this country,” he added.
“You won’t be able to save the money you laundered out of Pakistan,” he said.
“We will bring it back to Pakistan,” the PTI leader said and accused Nawaz’s political allies including Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami (PkMAP) chief Mehmood Achakzai for only standing with the ‘ideology of corruption’.
“There is just one ideology of the people who are standing with you, which is corruption,” he said.
Coming down hard on Foreign Affairs Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, PTI chief alleged that Asif was a ‘legal adviser’ at a company in the Middle East while he served as the country’s defence minister. “Asif held an ‘iqama’ that bound him to work for the company for at least six to eight hours every day, so the only reason to hold the ‘iqama’ was to launder money,” he alleged.
“The entire nation has hopes associated with NAB chairman,” he said and added that the Hudaibya Papers Mills case speaks about the corruption of all members of the Nawaz family. He added that the party was showcasing its political might through holding rallies across Punjab and Sindh.
