The load management in electricity has been taken a turn of the worse and electricity now seems like a relic of the past. The poor citizens of Pakistan have to spend day and night in this sweltering heat without any electricity supply. The affluent classes who also use a disproportionate amount of this subsidised electricity can afford generators and UPS but the middle and lower middle classes have been left with no alternative but to bear the heat and dark.

We have been hearing false placations from the authorities for the past three years assuring that loadshedding will soon end. No one buys those anymore and people have no faith in the ability of the government to manage the crisis. But at least short-term measures which have an immediate impact like conservation strategies and more reasonable timetables for loadshedding can be implemented. But, even that is too much to hope.
