ISLAMABAD: A research journal on ‘Seerat-un-Nabi’, recently published by Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU), has been declared the best academic publication of the year 2017 by the federal ministry of religious affairs.

A special award will be given on its publication at a national ‘seerat conference’, to be held on December 2.

The purpose of the journal was seeking guidance and aspiration from Quran and Sunnah for the effective reformation of society and having better lives both at an individual and collective level.

Some famous names who contributed to the journal included Dr Muhammad Razaq Asood from Saudi Arabia and Dr Yaseen Mazhar Siddiqui from Aligarh Muslim University, New Delhi.

While launching the journal, AIOU Vice-Chancellor Dr Shahid Siddiqui said that Quran and the Prophet’s (PBUH) life provided human beings with a complete code of life both for this world and the hereafter.

He said that mere economic developments were not enough in bringing real changes in the lives of people, adding that values, attitude and thinking in light of Islamic teachings were essential for bringing the desired results.
