KARACHI: Sindh government has set up the first ever telemedicine clinic of the province in Government Hospital New Karachi to improve healthcare facilities.
Health Secretary Dr Fazlullah Pechuho inaugurated the telemedicine unit and speaking on the occasion said that the telemedicine sites will not only help improve rural healthcare but also improve quality of care all over the province.
Pechuho said with the public-private partnership in the health sector, state-of-the-art facilities will be introduced in all government hospitals to provide best medical treatment to patients.
Medical Superintendent Dr Asif Zaman Khan said the telemedicine will help provide round-the-clock treatment to children in an efficient and effective manner. This technology will also be utilised for surgery purposes at a later stage, he added.
The newly inaugurated projected is being supported by a non-governmental organization, Child Life Foundation, working for child healthcare.
