ISLAMABAD: The police have chalked out an elaborate security plan for the main procession of Eid Milad-um-Nabi on 12th Rabi ul Awal (December 1).

A strict patrolling will be ensured during the procession and other religious gatherings in the city.

According to the plan, law enforcement agencies including police and Rangers will perform patrolling and security duties. The main procession, starting from Sector G-7 (Sitara Market) and culminating near the shrine of Hazrat Sakhi Mehmud at Aabpara market, will be completely cordoned off through heavy deployment of law enforcement personnel, according to police sources.

Following the directions of Islamabad Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sajid Kiani, superintendents of police (SPs), sub-divisional police officers (SDPOs), station house officers (SHOs) and other police officials would visit the routes of the procession and ensure effective coordination among the security personnel performing duties.

Police officials will guide the cops and boost their morale to perform their duties responsibly. A total of 2,000 police personnel, including 300 traffic policemen, will perform security duties on the occasion while special teams of Rangers, crime investigation department (CID) and special branch police will assist in the smooth performance of their duties.

The police officers including SPs will also visit various police posts, lying in the route of the procession, to check security duties and brief cops on effectively ensuring security.

The route of the procession has been divided into four sectors and four SPs, seven DSPs and 22 inspectors will lead the security duties and monitor the security arrangements in these sectors.

Islamabad traffic police (ITP) have also devised special plans for the smooth flow of traffic and to ensure that road users do not face any inconveniences.  SSP (Traffic) Malik Matloob will lead 300 ITP personnel on this occasion to ensure smooth traffic flow in the city and divert traffic to alternate routes.

A close liaison will be maintained with the organisers of the processions and other gatherings in the city while cooperation from the organisers with police will be ensured. Walk-through gates will be installed at all the entry points of the procession while metal detectors will be used for checking of the participants.
