Cellular companies incurring loss of Rs 400b annually: NAB chairman

National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal has said that cellular companies operating different mobile networks in the country were found defaulters of Rs 400 billion tax annually.

According to a statement issued on Monday, he said that reports from Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) disclosed the cellular companies were incurring a loss of Rs 400 billion every year by evading tax which was a huge burden on national exchequer.

The NAB chairman asserted to further improve tax collection system, adding Pakistan was a tremendous country for foreign investments but steps were required for tax collection for safety of national interests.

Justice Javed Iqbal said that NAB has seven regional bureaus which have been ordered to solve corruption complaints as per law and to keep clients informed about the status of their complaints.

He clarified that stringent action would be taken against those NAB officials who would try to harass anyone against the law and found calling anyone for investigations after the enquiry.
