Court sends CDA officials, Saffa Mall owner on 14 days’ judicial remand

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad’s Accountability Court has sent Saffa Gold Mall’s owner, Rana Abdul Qayyum and officials of THE Capital Development Authority (CDA) to jail for 14 days until 11th of December.

Islamabad  Accountability Court Judge Muhammad Bashir held a hearing of reference filed by National Accountability Bureau (NAB) against constructing three stories without approval.

During the hearing, NAB had produced accused Rana Abdul Qayyum, Ghulam Murtaza, Khalil Ahmed, Ammar Idrees and Khadim Hussain before the court after expiration of their remand. NAB prosecutor pleaded the court for an extension of remand.

Defence lawyer rejecting the request of NAB officials pleaded to send accused on judicial remand, afterwards, the court ordered to send the accused on 14 days judicial remand.

The court has adjourned the hearing of the case till 11th of December.

It is pertinent to mention that allegations of billions of rupees’ corruption during construction of Saffa Gold Mall is under investigation against the owner of Saffa Gold Mall and CDA officials.
