Over 300 properties sealed for non-payment of property tax

RAWALPINDI: The Excise and Taxation Department has sealed over 300 commercial and residential properties during a campaign against property tax defaulters.

According to an excise and taxation spokesman, the teams comprising inspectors under the supervision of Excise and Taxation Officer (ETO), Riaz Qureshi has conducted raids and the properties of tax defaulters were sealed.

He said that the department also recovered property tax arrears amounting to Rs14 million during the last two weeks. The properties whose owners had not submitted their property tax dues were sealed in different areas, while the department is expecting to collect over Rs20 million in property tax arrears from the defaulters.

The excise and taxation department during its special campaign launched on the directive of director excise also checked vehicles in the division and recovered outstanding dues of token tax. An action was taken against the defaulters in accordance with the law, he told the press.

He urged the owners of properties and vehicles to pay their property taxes and vehicle token taxes at the earliest otherwise strict action would be taken under the law against the defaulters.
