CM Shehbaz chairs high-level meeting to review development schemes

LAHORE: A high-level meeting was held on Monday with Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Shehbaz Sharif in the chair, to review progress on different ongoing development schemes in the provincial metropolis.

Addressing the meeting, the chief minister said that the historic city of Lahore was the heart of Pakistan, and added that resources worth billions of rupees have been provided to beautify this city and to ensure immaculate state of cleanliness.

He said that these resources were provided to arrange different facilities for the citizens, adding that provision of best facilities was their right. The departments concerned were required to perform this responsibility with utmost dedication and commitment so that the citizens could enjoy best facilities and services at their doorsteps, he said.

The CM Shehbaz expressed his strong indignation over the non-implementation of the model devised for different aligned services attached with the development schemes, and made it clear that now business would be conducted in a transparent manner since the government was answerable to the people.

He directed the officials concerned to work day and night to provide best facilities to the people, the results of which should be obvious. He said that he had always provided administrative support to the departments and it was their responsibility to give results. I shall not tolerate any delay with regard to the provision of different facilities to the people and the officers failing to perform shall be sent packing home, he added.

Member of provincial assembly Ramzan Siddique Bhatti, Lahore Mayor Mubasher Javed, Deputy Mayor Ijaz Hafeez, Lahore Development Authority director general, Lahore deputy commissioner, Lahore Electric Supply Company Limited chief executive officer, Lahore Waste Management Company managing director and other relevant officials also attended the meeting.

Separately, in a meeting with Punjab Governor Rafiq Rajwana, CM Shehbaz said that a new history of public service should be written by following the principles of honesty, trust and hard work, adding that every step taken by the government was taken for the prosperity of the people. He further said that the time had come to maintain unity and cohesion among people, instead of disunity.

On the occasion, Rafique Rajwana said that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government had taken revolutionary steps for the development and well-being of southern Punjab by providing additional funds amounting to billions of rupees.
