LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that shipment of 25 tons meat to Malaysia is a big achievement.
He was addressing a function at the occasion of first shipment of kosher meat to Malaysia by Zenith Associates in Raiwind on Saturday. He said that development of livestock could help increase export of kosher meat as well as strengthen national economy.
If the exporters promise to achieve $ two billion export of meat in next two years, he would allocate Rs one billion to facilitate the livestock industry, he said.
The chief minister said a prospered livestock industry could help overcome poverty and unemployment, adding that Pakistan’s share in $ 600 billion meat business of the world was negligible whereas India was exporting meat worth $ 21 billion.
He said that Punjab government was implementing a strategy for the development of livestock and a contemporary slaughter house would be set up in Punjab, besides giving incentives to private farmers for setting up farms of calves.
