All schools, colleges to remain closed on Nov 27

KARACHI: Sindh Education Minister Jam Mehtab confirmed late Sunday evening that all schools and colleges across the province will remain closed on Monday (November 27) on account of uncertain law and order situation across the province.

The provincial education minister said, “All government and private schools would remain closed on Monday (Nov 27) on account of tense security situation in the province.”

Earlier in the day, Karachi University (KU) administration had announced that examinations scheduled for Monday had been postponed. A Sindh Education Department spokesperson had also said that a decision had not been made on the matter and state-run schools would remain open Nov 27.

Meanwhile, Private Schools Association had announced on Sunday to suspend educational activities on Monday (Nov 27) due to tense law and order situation in the metropolis.

The Sindh Madressatul Islam University (SMIU) along with Benazir Bhutto Shaheed University Lyari, Federal Urdu University, and Jinnah Women University would also remain closed on Nov 27.

According to a Punjab government notification, all schools in the province would remain closed for two days due to Islamabad operation and violent protests being held across the country.

Punjab Minister for Education Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan said that all private and government educational institutes in the province would remain closed on Monday and Tuesday (Nov 27-28), in light of deteriorating law and order situation arising from the Islamabad operation.

Protestors belonging to different religious groups continued sit-ins and blocked main roads in Lahore, Karachi and other cities of the country after law enforcement agencies started a crackdown against Tehreek-e-Labaik Ya Rasool Allah protestors occupying Faizabad Interchange.
