LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) issued a notice to former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz for using state protocol, despite former premier’s disqualification by the apex court.

Justice Shahid Kareem heard the petition seeking a return of the 40 vehicles, which were deployed with him as state protocol when he was the prime minister.

The petitioner has the stance that Nawaz Sharif was still using the state protocol and Punjab House, despite SC declaring him disqualified. He pointed out that a 40-car motorcade with the disqualified person is just the wastage of national exchequer.

The petition has also requested the ban on former PM meetings in Punjab House and having such a massive protocol.

On November 23, the contempt of court petition against Maryam Nawaz over her anti-judiciary remarks has been filed in LHC requesting action against her.

The contempt of court plea filed by Amna Malik states that Maryam has issued statements against the judiciary after appearing before accountability court, as she was also posting anti-judiciary messages on social media on a regular basis.

The plaintiff has the stance that every citizen poor or rich should respect the judiciary; however, former PM’s daughter’s statement against the judiciary can lead to unrest in the country.
